Driving Energy Innovation in the Mediterranean

Empowering transformation through innovation, integration, and regional cooperation.

Welcome to the Mediterranean Offshore Conference & Exhibition (MOC), the region’s most influential offshore energy networking hub.
At MOC, every connection counts. From ministerial dialogues to technical showcases, MOC creates opportunities that turn ideas into action. Our mission is clear: accelerate sustainable offshore energy development, foster regional cooperation, and unlock new business ventures.

Dear Esteemed Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Mediterranean Offshore Conference & Exhibition (MOC) 2026, taking place in Alexandria, Egypt from 20–22 October 2026.

For more than two decades, MOC has served as the official gathering of Egypt’s offshore energy industry, bringing together government leaders, international operators, technology innovators, investors, and policymakers to advance the development of the Mediterranean’s energy resources.

Today the Mediterranean is emerging as one of the world’s most strategically important energy regions. With significant offshore reserves and growing infrastructure connectivity, the basin plays a critical role in strengthening regional energy security, economic growth, and international cooperation.

Egypt continues to expand offshore exploration, develop gas infrastructure, and reinforce its position as a regional energy hub linking the Eastern Mediterranean, Africa, and global markets.

MOC 2026 will once again unite industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore opportunities, accelerate investment, and build the partnerships shaping the future of Mediterranean energy.

We look forward to welcoming the global energy community to Alexandria.

H.E. Karim Badawi

Egypt’s Energy Transition: Ambitions, Actions, and Alliances

Key Targets and Strategies: 65% Reduction in Emissions by 2030

Egypt aims to cut oil and gas sector emissions by 65% (approximately 1.7 million tonnes of CO₂e) by 2030 compared to a business-as-usual (BAU) scenario. This initiative underscores the country’s determination to mitigate the environmental impact of fossil fuel extraction and production.

Significant Cuts in Gas Flaring Emissions (cliccabile) si espande in A major contributor to emissions reduction is the reduction of gas flaring, a common practice in oil and gas operations that releases large amounts of CO₂ and methane. Egypt has set a target to decrease emissions from gas flaring by 1.682 million tonnes of CO₂ (65%) by 2030, relative to 2015 levels. This initiative aligns with global efforts to eliminate routine flaring and improve operational efficiency in hydrocarbon production.

Implementation Measures and Industry Collaboration: Adopting Advanced Technologies

Implementing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) solutions, as well as deploying more energy-efficient extraction and refining processes.

Investing in infrastructure to capture and utilize excess gas rather than burning it off, supporting Egypt’s growing natural gas exports.
Collaborating with international energy companies, investors, and technology providers to drive emissions reductions while ensuring economic growth.
Implementing stricter regulations on emissions and offering incentives for cleaner production methods. Egypt’s oil and gas sector plays a crucial role in its energy landscape and economic development. By embracing decarbonization strategies, the country is positioning itself as a regional leader in sustainable energy production, balancing industrial growth with environmental responsibility.

Strengthening Regional Energy Partnerships

Positioning itself as a key energy hub, Egypt is enhancing cooperation across North Africa and the Mediterranean to boost oil and gas production, efficiency, and regional security.

Recent agreements highlight Egypt’s commitment to sustainable energy partnerships:

  • Egypt-Greece: Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS)
  • Methanex Egypt: Process Safety Management
  • Egypt-Cyprus: Natural Gas Development
  • Egypt-Spain: Infrastructure & Transport

Natural Gas: A Key Transitional Fuel

Natural gas plays a vital role in the region’s energy transition, providing a stable foundation while integrating renewables. Egypt’s commitment to sustainability is evident in green hydrogen projects and other initiatives supporting a balanced energy future.
